Overview

A complete stereo mic kit, the 3511ES from DPA Microphones features 2 compact d:dicate 4011ES Cardioid Microphones with active side cables. They're ultra-compact cardioid microphones that are part of DPA's modular d:dicate Microphone Series. Meticulously factory-matched within +/- 1 dB on frequency response as well as sensitivity over their entire frequency bandwidth, these mics work great for unobtrusive spot-miking, such as hanging or table use. Each mic is only 3.5cm (1.4") in length, and has a low-key appearance. In addition, each mic features an integrated cable solution which allows you to hang it from the ceiling and create precise and repeatable positions and angles when spot-miking orchestra sections or atmospheric ambience.

The principal appeal of the 4011 is its directional quality and attention to detail. Its transparent sound reproduction keeps everything sounding like the original. Its first-order cardioid polar pickup pattern delivers exceptional separation between sound sources. The 4011 is as equally suited for close-up work on acoustic guitar, grand piano, wind instruments, percussion, overheads, and vocals, as it is for spot-miking symphonies, and it can adeptly handle incredibly high sound levels as well. It features a flat on-axis frequency response and superb phase response that provides a totally faithful reproduction of the original sound. Its off-axis response is similarly smooth, so that any leakage is still a precise reflection of the original, though attenuated based upon its true first-order cardioid pickup pattern characteristics.
