Overview
A simple rotary switch lets you select any of five directional patterns (omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8, hypercardioid and wide-angle cardioid) to give you the best option for each recording application that comes your way. Another rotary switch activates a filter that changes the LF response to either below 80 Hz or 160 Hz frequency. This filter suppresses low frequency interference, yet maintains an even frequency response for close-up sound sources. The microphone also features a steep high-pass filter to prevent it from being overloaded by undesired subsonic frequencies.
This mic can handle sound pressure levels up to 134 dB without distortion, and its large dual-diaphragm capsule boasts a very smooth frequency response over a wide acceptance angle. All exposed surfaces of the microphone capsule, including the diaphragms, are at ground potential, making them highly immune to electrical and atmospheric interference and contamination through microscopic dust particles. The capsule is elastically mounted to avoid any structure borne noise that could interfere with its operation.
Truly, this is a microphone for the serious studio: a studio that is willing to invest heavily, yet wisely, for a pay-off of pristine sonic performance.
