Overview

Station-IC Virtual Client for Eclipse HX

The Station-IC Virtual Client for Eclipse HX is a state-of-the-art virtual desktop client designed for Windows and MacOS computers, providing a flexible and scalable intercom solution. It integrates seamlessly with Eclipse HX IP-capable matrices, Gen-IC virtual intercoms, and LQ Series IP Interfaces, offering access to various intercom resources including partyline channels, call signals, logic controls, and versatile communication modes such as one-to-one, one-to-many, ISO, and IFB. The client’s intuitive interface and extensive feature set make it ideal for professional broadcast and event environments where efficient communication is critical.

Station-IC is engineered for efficiency with its ergonomic interface that aligns with other Clear-Com user stations like Agent-IC and V-Series Iris panels. The client features large Talk and Listen buttons with individual level controls and clear state indicators, ensuring ease of use whether operating with a mouse or touchscreen. The interface is fully customizable, allowing users to adjust the window size to fit their screen and display between 4 to 24 keys concurrently, with additional keys accessible through scrolling. The compact mode keeps essential intercom keys visible even when multitasking with other applications, ensuring critical notifications and call signals are always within reach.

Administration and configuration of Station-IC are streamlined through Eclipse matrix systems or the Core Configuration Manager (CCM) interface for Gen-IC and LQ IP Interfaces. The client supports a range of audio codecs and a proprietary control transport protocol, ensuring reliable operation over various network connections including LAN, WAN, and the Internet. With multiple licensing options—perpetual, subscription, and event-based—users can select the best model for their needs, whether for ongoing use or short-term requirements. Station-IC’s robust technological foundation and flexible licensing make it a versatile tool for modern communication demands.

Theory of Operation

Eclipse Intercom System, Gen-IC Virtual Intercom, or LQ Interface (the server) provides a network connection and includes user credentials for Agent-IC or Station-IC (the clients) in its database. The server allows the use of DNS and declaration of external IP address of an optional third-party network router to cross firewalls or NAT. Clients receive connection information from the server via TCP, used to log onto the server with its credentials and establish encrypted audio and control stream(s) via UDP. A single UDP and TCP port is required in each direction. Eclipse systems route and mix all audio centrally and stream a complete mix to the clients running on Windows or MacOS. Gen-IC and LQ systems intelligently route audio Ethernet packets dependent on the loudest talker and listen levels to be mixed on the client.
